Torrid’s Deaf Ear to Fashion? & Exclusion of Size Inclusion…

So, there’s been some drama brewing in the plus community and it surrounds Torrid’s deaf ear when it comes to their customers and the exclusion of the size-inclusion movement. Here’s my 2 cents…

Yes, Torrid price point is high for some of the quality they throw out, and they have cold-shouldered, skulls, Disney, cherry, flowy top, and feather printed on a t-shirt us to death!!! And I know most of you, bloggers, influencers, and myself included have complained about the fashion. Torrid also has some areas their good at too: the intimates in my opinion are chef’s kiss, the leggings are good (I typically just buy black for me), their business basics are good (a little expensive…), and the quality of their workout gear is great. But that doesn’t mean we’re suppose the accept mediocre either. The girls want the figure fitting silhouettes, feathers, the patterns, the TRENDS, and the girls want it in a 5 to 6x and to see those size ladies in the ads. And we deserve too!

This is a GREAT chance for Torrid to really build on this from a design side, especially with most of their “day one” side speaking up.. Now for in-store shopping experience I saw in some of the comments this to me falls on the customer… you can not expect to have a full-blown cheerleading squad EVERY time you shop. It’s exhausting and annoying to do that all day. As a former retail worker and Torrid employee it is unrealistic and dangerous for the employees mental health. Basically, Torrid has been called out for ignoring their customers and they can’t hide that fact anymore… I’m tempted to see will they learn and grow from this or keep ignoring a large part of their marketplace and keep moving the same.

Funny enough this gown is from Torrid. LOL I found this dress for $15.00, it was originally around $99. Would have I paid the original price for it. No.

Now onto to the size-inclusion movement tea… during Torrid being called for their fashion. Other points started popping up how we need to still support them because they’re one of few brands that go up to a 6x. And how we should be boycotting: Fashion-To-Figure, Pretty Little Things, Fashion Nova, and a few others, because they refuse to go larger than a size 24 to 26 and the occasional 28. The exclusion for large plus women is a HUGE problem and I never really thought about it fully until today. Like if it’s hard for me to find clothes sometimes at a size 24, imagine for my size 30 and above girls. Plus fashion is damn near a billion business and the fact that you rather be fatphobic and have your customer base need to buy your clothes vs. wanting to buy your clothes is horribly sad and shows how you really value this customer base.

Now with all that tea spillage… here I am with the paper towel. LOL One brand I know for sure that cater to our extended size beauties is RCLX Universe (@rclxuniverse), it’s woman and black owned and the designs are too cute! https://shoprclx.online/

What I LOVE most about this brand are the silhouettes!!

I also want to highlight a fellow blogger who has expertise and been about the size inclusion and where to find extended sizes Mrs. A.P. Young (@mrs_ap_young), click the link for her write up about 15 brands that sell extended sizes. https://apyoungblog.com/2019/10/13/15-places-to-shop-extended-sizes/. Check her page and blog.

Yall know I LOVE a good black and white look!!!
