Let’s Talk: Thunda Thighs Review

Disclaimer: Yes, this is an honest review. Yes, I paid for this item with my own money. And no, the company does not know I’m writing this review previous to it being posted to the blog.

At the beginning of quarantine, I came across a brand named “Thunda Thighs” on instagram. And they carry Thigh-hi socks… Let me repeat that, THIGH-HI socks!!! And not only are they thigh-hi socks, but they are made for large legs. Now you know that’s a rarity, so I had to try.

Back story time… I’ve always been a chunky, chubby mama since birth (10 lb at birth baby!) So, my love/hate relationship with all things legs and the items that cover them has always been an issue. My calf circumference is 21-½ inches. and my thigh circumference is 33 inches with my leg at a 90 degree angle, as you see most things past the ankle are Helllll-to-the-Nawww. And EVERY woman wants to wear something thigh-hi at least once in their lives. So now you understand my excitement. LOL

Anyway, I ordered my pair back in April in the color Maroon. The packaging was cute and sealed. I apologize for not taking pics of it. Again I had them since April 2020 and there was nowhere to go for a long time. Thanks Covid-19, murder hornets, civil unrest, and all things 2020.

I finally pulled them out of my dresser drawer with the whole golden-light-shining-out-on-your-face type of effect; yes your girl was PRESSED!  It was around 36 degrees Fahrenheit a.k.a cold as f^@k outside! I paired the socks with my black pleated skater skirt, a thin black turtleneck, my knee-high brown flat boots (another rare find!), and some gold accessories.

After the heavenly shine happened, I yanked those bad boys out and did the sexy pull up, like in pantyhose commercials and was IMPRESSED. They never felt too tight or restricting and were very soft. The socks actually went up and past the widest part of my thigh without incident. Remember the widest part of my thigh is 33 inches, so the diameter of the socks themselves is incredible and they DIDN’T have the whole stretch out too far white fibers showing underneath thing. And they’re SUPER warm, I don’t mind suffering for fashion but being cold is a hard pass for me.

One thing I will point out is, if your thighs are larger you will need their thigh belt. As beautifully and with ease they went on; they rolled down pretty easy as well. Yes, I used the fold down then pull up method, the really thick one-fold, and the whole get your husband to assist you pulling them the whole way up, then watching them roll down. If you purchase a pair, I HIGHLY recommend you getting their Thigh Belt or Body adhesive. Remember I haven’t purchased either item myself, but from the quality of socks that I received I would order those accessories to go with it.

Final Thoughts: I really LOVE the socks and would recommend purchasing a pair. You will NEED either their thigh belt or some other type of thigh garter to keep them up. I have a picture of myself in them below along with Pros/Cons and my stats for reference.

Pros:

kept my legs warm

made with great quality

soft against your skin

good price point $28.50

they REALLY are Thigh-hi’s

Cons:

they do roll down

will require extra item(s) to keep them up

My Stats:

Height: 5’7

Weight: 350 lbs

Thigh Circumference: 33 inches

Calf Circumference: 21-½ inches

Thank you so much! Yes, I highly recommend them. It’s ridiculous how hard it is to find socks that fit larger legs. I’ll stand on that soapbox another day.

First let me thank you for the many relatable girlish giggles throughout this blog (lol). My favorite was “sexy pull up, like in pantyhose commercials” ….this almost took me out. But I digress! Thank you for sharing this personal product review. As a plus size woman fully intune with my sexy I have been looking for a pair of thigh hi socks to dance in, do a photoshoot in, and just walk around the house in because I love my essence of being a woman. How would I measure my thighs for accuracy? Thank you so much for your transparency and please write more.

      LOL
No problem!! I had to describe all the cheesy details that float threw this wild mind of mine. I will say BUY THEM, but don’t forget the “attachments”. I love, “intune with my sexy”, I’ll have to use that one day. And again no problem and you’re very welcome.

Also to measure, I stood up and use measuring tape around the widest part of my thigh and calf. For the TRUE measurement, I do it sitting down and again use measuring tape around the widest part of my thigh and calf.
Tip: Do NOT pull the measuring tape tight. Have it relaxed and true to your body part size.
